Cycle route Bratislava - Hainburg - through the beauty of the Austrian borderland

Even though Hainburg is a small town on the Austrian border, it offers plenty of interesting sights and beauties. From Bratislava to Hainburg, there is a pleasant flat cycling path suitable for all types of bicycles and families with children.

Basic information about the cycling route from Bratislava to Hainburg:

- Route length: 17 km (one way)
- Difficulty: Easy, suitable for families with children. About 1 km runs along the roadside, but it is usually not very busy.
- Surface: Asphalt, concrete panels

From the Velocity store, head through Mlynská dolina to the Lafranconi Bridge. Cross the Lafranconi Bridge via the cycling path to the other bank of the Danube. After descending from the bridge, turn left onto the dam, which will take you to the Berg border crossing and further to the first Austrian village, Wolfsthal. Continue on the cycling path up to the gas station at the start of Wolfsthal. Then pass by gardens for about 500 meters, where the cycling path ends and you need to join the main road. Continue on this road for about 1 km until you reach a small square in the middle of the village. Here, you can turn off the main road onto a less frequented path, suitable for cyclists and tractors.

From the square in Wolfsthal, turn right, where a short section of cobblestone follows, then the road sharply turns left. Continue following the asphalt and ignore the turn-offs onto the dirt roads.

Keep following the asphalt road and take a left turn as indicated by the sign. Eventually, the path reconnects with the main road and runs parallel to it and the railway until you reach Hainburg itself.

Hainburg is a picturesque town offering many attractions: Hainburg Castle, the historical center, the monument in front of the castle, the parish church of St. James, Hainburg Museum, or the summer swimming pool. In the historic center, you will find many restaurants and cafes, making it an ideal place to spend an afternoon.

Cycling to Braunsberg

If you want a challenge, are on an e-bike, or simply enjoy hills, set out from Hainburg on the cycling route to Braunsberg Hill.
